The heart of Hollywood has a new addition — Hedley’s — a new neighborhood restaurant nestled between the design boutiques of Robertson Boulevard that has become the official place of comfort for many visitors and locals. Owned by South African brothers Jeffrey and Hedley Apter, the unpretentious restaurant is known to serve some of the best food in the Avenues of Art & Design West Hollywood.

Hedley’s interior reflects a sense of tranquility, where customers can enjoy the recently revamped brown and beige décor and comfort food that is always served with style. The restaurant’s menu, which changes weekly, includes favorites such as macaroni and cheese with a hint of mustard, and Turkey Sloppy Joe, served with perfectly baked hand-cut French fries. The restaurant also offers one of the best hand-formed, spiced beef burgers in town, as well as delicious turkey burgers and lamb burgers, on occasion.

The salmon — usually wild when in season — is not to be missed, and there are always selections for those watching their weight. The organic heirloom tomato salad topped with arugula and served over a quesadilla is a definite must-try. The rigatoni pasta with chicken in a marinara sauce with fresh  basil is also impressive, while the fish tacos are fresh and authentic. “I don’t even like fish tacos, and I have these all the time,” said noted designer Luis Ortega.

On Saturdays, the brunch menu offers a variety of omelets and whole grain pancakes. Menu mainstays include juicy meatloaf on creamy mashed potatoes and chicken potpie with rich, red wine reduction sauce. Save room for dessert, especially the bread pudding. Pastry Chef Jennie, Hedley’s wife, often introduces new mouth-watering dessert items.

Hedley’s, located at 640 N Robertson Blvd., is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 am to 3 pm and Saturday, 9 am to 2:30 pm; Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 to 9 pm; Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 6 to 10 pm. For more information, call 310.659.2009.
